Book: Show us a book you started reading but never finished.
I've tried. I brought it home for Christmas. I took a class for which it was assigned. I wrote a paper on an excerpt last year.
It is Enrique's favorite book: he's read it four times. But I'm stuck on page 141 of Gravity's Rainbow. I have not given up hope — I will finish it at some point.
I haven't read this, but that's the best cover design I've ever seen for it 🙂
i believe this book is commonly considered the most unfinished book. lots and lots of people get overwhelmed by the prose and just drop it. i myself only hit 70sumthin but i drop books all the time.
Of course, another way of approaching "Gravity's Rainbow" is http://www.amazon.com/Pictures-Showing-Happens-Pynchons-Gravitys/dp/0977312798/ , which looks totally amazing…
If you're serious about wanting to finish the book, you might want to look into picking up a copy of Steven Weisenburger's "A Gravity's Rainbow Companion". It will clear up a lot of the obscure references and terminology that can make Pynchon a tough read. It certainly helped me.
